I have been a patient here for almost ten years. Dr. Avila is a nice person and a wonderful dentist, and the hygienists in the office are also friendly and do a great job. However, there have been changes over the past few years and things seem to be getting worse. In addition to billing issues, which they eventually resolved, I am frustrated with not being able to get in touch with anyone at the office. They filter all of their calls through a call center.
My appointment was changed with no communication until I was sent a confirmation email with the new date. I tried to call the office directly several times and no one answered the phone. The mailbox was full so I could not even leave a message. I then selected the option for appointments and got the call center appointments line. They said they did not know why my appointment was changed without my knowledge, but they had no alternate appointments available for over a month. I need to change the new appointment, but I do not want to wait a month for a simple cleaning. This is not the first time I have had difficulty scheduling an appointment in the past few years, so I am seriously considering seeking dental services elsewhere.

I love Dr Avila. He is wonderful - very personable and funny - and his hygienist staff is also fantastic. I’ve been going to him for almost 20 years now.
Coast Dental doesn’t have the greatest repute on because they are franchises, but it’s all about the individual owner and their staff.
Also they run a tight ship and I never wait ver long.
Check them out. You won’t be sorry.

I've been coming here for about 4+ years now. The staff have always been compassionate and kind. My dental hygienist is amazing, I love her, and the Dr. Is always generous with smiles. He is as gentle as possible when he works on your mouth.
If you don't have dental insurance, you may want to inquire about pricing so you won't be surprised. They do offer some options to consider if interested. They also accept the Care Credit card.

Well..lets see..I went in to have a tooth pulled and was sold a bill of goods. They sell you an in house insurance policy which does pretty much nothing..I bought it and they said they could save the tooth and convinced me to do so at nearly 2k of actual cost. They did a root canal and proceeded to fit a new tooth on top of that. That lasted about 2 weeks before it fell out and spiked the roof of my mouth( little unnerving to think I could have swallowed it). No problem I'm sure that can happen so went back in with my tooth and they got right on it and glued it back in. It didn't end there..about a month later out it came again and they glued it back in no appointment necessary..again in and out. At this point I was a little concerned that this could be a botched job but it was fixed..right?..no!!
This time the spike stabbed me between the tooth and the gum line and its a horrible feeling to feel like you just took a bite out of a rock. Ive always been uneasy going to a dentist and this has magnified that by 10x..talk about apprehensive! So much time has passed and the shell of the original tooth has started to decay but I have no desire to see a dentist but I knew I needed to get this failed botched root canal tooth removed. I reached out to the office and just ask them to remove the remains at no cost to me as I felt that was fair considering they already got 2k for a botched job and putting me back in this situation where I was initially. I waited for months to get a conversation with the original dentist that did the job..and nothing.
The office was more than happy to make an appointment months down the road and said my insurance would pay for it..I said no it wouldn't because I don't have any..front desk replied with.."oh you'll have to pay then" I then asked if anyone else was there that could make this kind of decision regarding this situation..that was a firm no. If I'm going to pay to have this done it won't be at Coast Dental and at this point I will consider consulting an attorney and see about exercising their insurance.
Here comes the obligatory were sorry reach out to us with your complaints comment from them. They should reach out to me directly as they know who I am and the situation as I just had a conversation with the front desk prior to writing this..lets see if they truly care of if it's lip service. I will amend this review if they do the right thing.
